Ms. Smith has worked for the Chorus in various
capacities for 18 years and in the summer of 2005
joined the staff full time. She served on the Board
of Directors for 15 years, a number of those as
Treasurer; she chaired the Personnel Committee,
the Alumni Committee and worked on numerous fundraising
campaigns. Over the years Ms Smith has developed
all of the personnel and financial systems and structures
used by the Chorus. She has also managed numerous
development activities, media campaigns, and toured
with the Chorus both nationally and internationally.
Since joining the GECC full time Ms. Smith has
been responsible for managing all administrative,
promotional, performance, and developmental requirements
for the GECC. She brings to the Chorus over 30 years
of experience, both in business office and project
management. Ms. Smith has an extensive background
in communication, negotiation, statistical analysis,
organization, marketing and media relations. She
is also a management consultant providing services
to businesses in the western suburbs.
Ms. Smith also loans her expertise to a number
of non-profits, from the arts to homeless shelters
and considers the work both necessary and highly
rewarding. She is joined in these activities by
her three daughters, April, Ashley and Kati.
Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration with honors from Elmhurst College.
